As the First World War continues, Pierre, a young soldier arriving at the front, wants to prove his courage. Behind the front lines, he meets Francis, who plans a theatre show to cheer up his fellow soldiers. As the fighting goes on, both men look for moments of relief from the horrors of war.
Born in Ghent, Belgium, filmmaker Lukas Dhont studied audiovisual arts. His short films won several awards. His debut feature, Girl, exploring dance, transformation and identity, premiered at Cannes in 2018, winning the Caméra d’Or for best first feature.
