Philip Doom, a vulgar American tycoon struggling to keep up with the modern world, travels to Paris in an attempt to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Madeleine. Staying in a luxury suite, the two protagonists awkwardly attempt to repair their relationship. However, their stay quickly descends into an absurd and surreal nightmare as various external factors disrupt their plans.
Quentin Dupieux started filmmaking at 12, using a camera to explore unconventional ideas. He directed music videos with Michel Gondry. As electronic musician Mr Oizo, he earned fame in the French Touch movement. His first film, Nonfilm, features the musician Sébastien Tellier.
