Sadhu, a lonely middle-aged man, marries a woman with mental illness and builds a house on an empty plot far from the village. However, her behaviour disturbs his peaceful life, so he abandons her in a distant place. After several days, a palm fruit falls from the tree near their house, and strangely, his wife returns. This happens again and again. The woman, the palm tree, and Sadhu’s life seem trapped in a mysterious, endless cycle.
Mejbaur Rahman Sumon is a Bangladeshi writer-director- visual artist and musician. While studying in the Painting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, he started his career by directing TV fiction. Later, he emerged as one of the strongest voices of Bangladesh’s New Wave Cinema movement. Since 2011, his production company FACECARD has been producing popular and acclaimed TV commercials. His Hawa was Bangladesh's entry to Oscars 2022.
