Set in present day Singapore, 21-year-old Junyang enjoys a carefree youth while his father struggles to support their modest life. When his relationship takes an unexpected turn, Junyang and his girlfriend face adulthood earlier than anticipated. Meanwhile, a lively woman enters his father’s life, changing the balance between father and son. As both generations face love, loss and responsibility, they must redefine family and learn to navigate the imperfect bonds between those we are born to and those we choose.
Born in 1984, Anthony Chen is a Singaporean writer, director and producer, known for Wet Season, Drift and The Breaking Ice. He won the 2013 Cannes Caméra d’Or for his debut, Ilo Ilo. We Are All Strangers, of the “Growing Up trilogy", competed for the Golden Bear at Berlin.
